I’m a lighting designer, scenic designer, production manager, and stage manager based in Bozeman, Montana.
After 25 years designing, teaching, and production managing in New York City and the Berkshires and touring internationally, I returned to my hometown Bozeman in 2017 and am now deeply embedded in the local community theater scene.
I create designs for many Bozeman performing arts companies including Verge Theater, Intermountain Opera Bozeman, Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, Bozeman Actors’ Theatre, Nervous Theater, and Kaleidoscope Youth Theater. I joined the Board of Directors of the Verge Theater in 2019 and I currently serve as Verge’s Chief Safety Officer and Technical Supervisor. I recently started a new theater company called The Spellcasters with my longtime collaborator Kari Doll.
I’ve been a faculty member of the Williams College and Stony Brook University theatre departments, teaching undergraduate technical theater, lighting design and stage management. I have extensive safety training, with OSHA certifications in Electrical Safety and General Entertainment Industry Safety, as well as industry certifications in aerial work platform operation, ventilation for COVID-19, and Mental Health First Aid. I am a member of United Scenic Artists Local USA 829, a subsidiary union of the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees.
I’m also on the board of the Friends of the Story Mansion, a not-for-profit citizens’ group that promotes the use of Bozeman’s Story Mansion as a center for community cultural events. Many of our small community theater groups have staged performances in the first floor rooms of the mansion, which have been renovated and are open for public use. We are working to recruit partner organizations to help us complete the mansion renovation, which would result in beautiful offices and/or bedrooms on the second floor and large ballroom event space on the third floor. The Carriage House of the mansion, a standalone 40 x 60 barn, would make a fantastic community theater space! Stay tuned for developments on that.
